On a time crunch? These 2 makeup looks will have you ready in a matter of minutes!
Bare It All
As much as we all love a little glam, sometimes all we need is something simple. This is a minimalistic look that is all about fresh, dewy skin – in this case, less is more!
Here’s how to master that no makeup look once and for all.
To completely pull off this bare-faced look, you need natural, glowing skin. While we may not all be blessed with amazing skin, it’s easy enough to fake it!
Treat your skin to a hydrating face mask a couple of hours before applying your makeup to ensure the skin is supple, soft and hydrated, then apply a lightweight lotion or moisturiser to prevent water loss throughout the day.
Try: Hannon Rehydrating Moisture Mask, R315 for 50ml and Hannon Intense Hydrating Moisturiser, R380 for 50ml.
Now’s the time to stay away from powders, thick mousse formulas or anything mattifying – unless you have really oily skin. Liquids are best for creating a dewy glow, and have buildable coverage, so you don’t have to worry about going completely overboard. Most of your time should be spent perfecting your foundation.
Try: Hannon Full Coverage Liquid Foundation, R252.
A Few Finishing Touches
Now that your skin has a gorgeous glow, finish up with a thin coat of mascara, some clear lip balm and a few highlights on your brow bone, nose, chin and cheeks.
Try: Hannon Long Lasting Superlash Mascara, R240.
Go For Glam
If you’re looking for a makeup look for your next part with the girls, date night or office function, this look is your go-to. We’re not saying go all out crazy, rather keep your glam soft – you want to make a subtle impression.
No matter the look you’re after, the key to any good makeup routine is great skincare! Exfoliate once a week to remove the dead skin cells that could be making you look dry and flaky – a total no no!
The quickest way to make your foundation look flawless is to apply it over freshly moisturised skin.
Try: Hannon Balancing Moisturiser, R380 for 50ml.
Once your skin is prepped and ready, it’s time to paint your canvas. Start from the centre of the face working outwards. If you use a sponge you’ll get a dewy look, however you can still achieve the same effect with a brush. Start with minimal coverage, you can always add more if necessary.
Try: Hannon Two-In-One Foundation, R252.
Check Those Cheeks
Forget sculpting your cheekbones with a brown powder. Sweep a blush on the apples of your cheeks up to your cheekbone to sculpt the face while adding a warm flush to the skin.
Try: Hannon Peachy Blusher, R230.
All Eyes On You
It’s time to make those peepers POP!
If you aren’t a major fan of the black and grey smoky, keep it subtle, yet still sexy with some beautiful browns. Wash a light colour over your whole lid, add a highlight in the inner corner of the eye, and blend the darkest shade on the outer corner of your eye in a ‘v’ or ‘c’ shape. The key here is too blend! You want the colours to fade into eachother, otherwise you’ll be left with a harsh finish.
Finish off with a lick of mascara over the lashes to open up the eye.
Try: Hannon Duo Eyeshadow Palette, R168 and Super Lash Long Lasting Mascara, R240.
